What Data We Collect
Squan is a desktop application that runs entirely on your machine. It does not collect personal data, telemetry, or analytics of any kind. We have no servers receiving information from the app. The Squan website (squan.dev) may use basic Netlify analytics to understand general traffic patterns.
API Keys
To use AI features, you enter your own API keys (for services such as Anthropic, OpenAI, Google, and others). These keys are stored locally on your machine only and are never transmitted to us. We do not have access to your API keys at any time.
Third-Party AI Services
When you use AI features within Squan, your data is sent directly from your machine to the AI provider you have chosen (e.g., Anthropic, OpenAI, Google, Ollama). We do not control or intermediate these services. Please refer to each provider's own privacy policy for details on how they handle your data.
Website
The squan.dev website is hosted on Netlify. Netlify may collect basic server logs, including IP addresses and browser type, as part of standard web hosting. We do not use cookies, tracking scripts, or Google Analytics on this website.
Open Source
Squan is free and open-source software released under the Apache 2.0 license. All source code is publicly available at github.com/tarvitave/squan. You are welcome to audit the code and verify these privacy practices for yourself.
Children's Privacy
Squan is not directed at children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect any information from children.
Changes to This Policy
We may update this privacy policy from time to time. Any changes will be reflected on this page with an updated revision date. We encourage you to check this page periodically for any updates.
